Your Budget

How Much Will Your Project Cost?

There are multiple elements that contribute towards the cost of a building or garden landscaping project, and each of them must be calculated prior to any work beginning. This is a vital step to ensure the project is completed within the homeowner’s budget.

How Do We Calculate Cost?

To get a good idea of the combined cost of these elements, we use an online consultation with the homeowner to first understand the full extent of their vision. We then consider the size and scale of the project along with its complexity, all of which are elements that will influence the overall cost.

We then look at the materials involved and the amount of each of them that will be required. This part will likely be the biggest factor when it comes to determining the cost of a project, as different types of material can make a big difference to the final cost. For example, creating a lawn area with artificial grass is more expensive than creating the exact same space with real grass. In fact, there will often be a variety of options for materials available for any given part of a project, with the quality of each option usually determining its cost.

Logistics

Additional Costs

We also have to consider certain logistics in terms of what kind of access is available to the site. Costs can rise if the project area is difficult to access, meaning it requires more time and effort – and possibly special equipment – to transport the necessary materials to the spot where they are needed.

What Is An Average Cost?

As a general guide, designing and landscaping a standard small garden of around 100m2 will likely cost in the region of £10,000 to £20,000, while a standard medium-sized garden up to 200m2 will likely be in the range of £20,000 to £30,000. Equally, building extensions can have a price range of £1,800-£3000/m² of new internal space. So a 30m² kitchen extension could be estimated at somewhere between £54,000 to £90,000.

Also bear in mind that some projects involve acquiring planning permission, which may be granted with some conditions that we need to be aware of in case they too affect the cost of the project.
